Memories

I stole this from Bekah - I think it's such a fun idea. Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses.

Okay, so one of the first memories I have of you was when I went to support our Ward basketball team. It was a pretty intense game and I was on the stage, cheering everyone on when all of a sudden a girl from the other team got right up in your face. There were obviously some harsh words being exchanged. (I know you told me what she said to you, but I don't remember so since this is my memory, you get it from my perspective.) Then, out of nowhere, you spiked the basketball out of the other girl's hands. The ref started blowing her whistle, and Jen, who was also sitting on the stage with Sam, yelled out "Arin, Calm Down!" That must have been the wrong thing to say because you immediately turned to the fans and screamed with all the fury you could muster "DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!!!!" I was completely shocked! The other handful of times that I had hung out with you, you had been completely pleasant. I think that was the moment when I decided - yep we just became best friends! :)

Ha ha ha! Ahhhh - I love it! Funny enough, that wasn't the most dramatic thing to happen at that basketball game.

Oh WOW I have soo soo many memories, but one specific one that I will never forget is when me and Kristin spent the night with you, and you and Amy still shared that room in the back, and we kept sticking her hand in water while she was asleep to make her wet the bed, and it didnt work! But we tried for like an hour!

Its hard to just post one cause I have so many good ones, gee we were silly girls growing up!

I have oodles of great memories. A random memory that I had the last time I worked was related to my old beauty school blow dryer. When my wedding was a few days away you got all upset/mad that I was getting married; I was a little flattered that you didn't want me to move out, but then you said, "You can't take that blow dryer! I love it!" Then that memory led me to remember how I had to style your hair everyday and you were never interested in me teaching you. Then that memory led to all the times we fought over your hair because you were either instructing me too much or wanting it too blond. Don't you remember how I finally had to tell you that you couldn't say anything about your hair until I was totally finished. OH, but there are so many more pleasant memories... like chasing the train in San Fran,..
You're a great little sister who has given me so many wonderful memories, and I hope to have so many more.

I remember feeling like the coolest freshman in the world because my cool senior cousin would drive me to school!

OK, I'll start by saying that I've always regretted not having more memories with you, but I've always been fond of the ones I have. I would not have thought at the time that this one would end up a fond memory; I think it's one of those things you like to remember because you're proud and astonished that you lived through it. Here it goes: During our visit to Salt Lake together you dad took us to the hot springs. We got there after dark and had to wait in the parking lot for the moon to rise high enough to light our way because flashlights were for "sissies." (I would have gladly accepted that title in exchange for a flashlight!) We started our trek to the well-known naked hippie hide-away and soon realized why the light was indeed very important. To our left were scary woods and on our right was a sheer cliff that dropped off to the river. You, Jenni and I took turns being the one to walk in front as we tried to not be left behind by your dad. We were doing OK keeping ourselves distracted and progressing forward until Bigfoot appeared on the trail ahead of us. We screamed and grabbed each other (at least I did; you guys may have kept it together, but this is my memory) until we realize that Bigfoot is just a big, hairy, but friendly hippie. We finally get to the hot springs, surprisingly unscathed. Since it is the middle of the night we set up our sleeping areas which for your dad consisted of a canoe and for us girls a blow-up mattress, I think, out on the water. We got settled in among the naked, increasingly stoned colony and a couple of older guys came and made friends with us. They said they would come back later and take a swim, but luckily one of them thought to ask if we swam wearing suits. We replied yes and he retracted the offer saying maybe they shouldn't then. Good idea! It was pretty late by then and I just wanted to go to sleep, but with all the people around you thought someone might take our stuff so we'd better stay up all night just in case. I don't know how long I lasted, but I do remember playing those alphabet games to stay awake! I don't remember much about the next day either, but I'm sure it wasn't as dramatic as the adventure getting in. Oh yeah, we also had 7 layer dip for dinner while we waited for the moon; that was pretty good!

I have many memories. I thought the time would never come that you wanted to dress like a girl. You and Amy always headed for the boys clothes section in the stores. Love Ya" Ganny
