Mystery Solved...

Remember that time, I was induced and was in labor for 21+ hours and when it finally came time to push, I was pushing for 3 1/2 hours to no avail and they had to pull Stockton out with the vacuum? And remember how when he came out, he had a major cone head coming out of the bach of his head? And remember how everyone told us it was just from being in the birth canal for so long and it would be better in a few days, but instead of starting to look normal, his forehead continued to get bigger?

Well, it turns out he actually has a form of Craniosynostosis called, Sagittal Synostosis. This is when one of the sutures of of the skull fuses together too early and as the brain grows, the head is unable to grow out to the sides, so it has to grow in the front and back. He will have to have surgery to have it corrected so that his neurological development isn't affected and so his head does not become deformed. We don't know yet when the surgery will be, but the doctor wants to do it between 3-4 months of age. We should hear from them any day now letting us know when it will be scheduled. It will be done at Primary Children's and I feel really confident and comfortable with the doctors that will be doing the procedure. I am not nearly as worried about the surgery itself as I am about seeing my precious little baby in pain after the surgery and while he is recovering. I really don't know how I will handle it. While this may seem overwhelming to us, we both know that things could definitely be ALOT worse and we are so grateful that he is healthy and strong.

I tried to get a good picture of his head to show everyone who hasn't seen him yet and this is the best one I could get. You can't really see the ridges on the sides of his head, but you can kind of get an idea about the length and narrowness of it.

Stockton's first road trip to Boise

This past weekend we made a quick trip to Boise so Troy could go to an archery shoot with his brother. It was a fun weekend, as always, but definately wasnt long enough. And, of course, we can't make a trip to Boise without wishing we were looking for our own house up there. Oh well, hopefully one day...Anyways, Stockton was absolutely PERFECT the entire weekend. He slept almost the whole way there and back and the times he was awake, he was perfectly content. I think I was more worried about him being crammed in his car seat for so long more than he was. While Troy and Scott were doing their thing, Stockton and I went to the mall with Lori and Chantal. It was SO NICE just having an extra pair of hands to help with Stockton so I was actually able to look around and enjoy shopping. Even though we were gone ALL day, it was a fun day for me. We even found this ADORABLE hat for Stockton to wear with his blessing outfit on Sunday. I just want to squeeze the life out of him every time I put it on him because he is so cute!

Stockton's first girlfriend

Stockton had his first play date with his little girlfriend, Liv, last week. Hopefully it was the first of many play dates to come. She sure is a cutey and we wouldnt mind if he is sweet on her for a long time. :)

Stockton is 8 weeks old (Yesterday)

I can't believe the time has gone by so fast, but Stockton is already 8 weeks old. He is getting so big and changes so much every day. It seems like ever since about 6 weeks, he stopped being an unpredictable newborn and started falling into a routine oriented baby. He started sleeping 6-8 hours every night without waking up to eat and is starting to figure out when he wants to take naps during the day. The things I am loving the most about him as he gets bigger other than just being the most precious thing in the whole world are:

*He lets me sleep at night
*He loves sleeping in his own bed, but still loves his morning time in bed with Mom & Dad

*He has his happy/smiley/talking time after waking up in the morning while he is bed with Us

*He is so good at putting himself to sleep and also at entertaining himself so I can actually do stuff around the house

*He doesnt want to eat EVERY hour

*And my favorite: out of all the people in the entire world that he could choose from, he loves me the most. :)

Here are 2 pictures of him that I took this week and a picture of both me and Troy at 8 weeks. Use the poll to vote on who you think he looks like so far based on our baby pics. I was a little surprised...

The Classic Stockton Face

I know this may not be cute to anyone except me and Troy, but I just had to make a post about Stockton's classic wide eyed stare. It kind of freaks me out sometimes, but we think it is hilarious. He has this look on his face pretty much anytime he is awake. We just love this little guy so much!
